The Ministry of Mines and Energy has announced that petrol prices and diesel will remain unchanged for the month of August 2023.
According to the government department, the petrol price in Walvis Bay will remain at N$ 19.78 per litre, while the price of diesel 50 ppm will remain N$ 19.05 per litre, and that of diesel 10 ppm will remain unchanged at N$ 19.25 per litre.
This comes after the Ministry recorded under-recoveries of 54 cents per litre on petrol and under-recoveries of 53 cents and 50 cents per litre on diesel 50 ppm and diesel 10 ppm, respectively.
“The National Energy Fund, through the equalization levy, will absorb the under-recoveries recorded on behalf of fuel consumers,” Ministry Spokesperson, Andreas Simon, said on Friday.
This is the second month that the ministry has not adjusted the country’s fuel prices.
Namibia is currently in talks with India regarding plans to source cheap fuel from the Asian country.
Namibia consumes 90 million liters of fuel per month on average, according to government figures.
