FlyNamibia has inaugurated flights from the Eros Airport in Windhoek to Walvis Bay as its additional domestic route, set to start as of 28 October.
Walvis Bay is the first new addition to FlyNamibia’s scheduled operations since the announcement of its new partnership with Airlink in September 2022.
The partnership is aimed at giving the flying public more options, more access and broader horizons to discover and explore, and is set to further increase FlyNamibia’s operational capacity.
“This heralds a new phase where we are connecting the hearts of business in our country – Khomas and Erongo,” said the CEO of the Namibia Airports Company, Bisey /Uirab said.
Walvis Bay Mayor Trevino Forbes said “it is an opportunity to recognise and commend the effort of FlyNamibia to renew this route. In the past, this route has served as a key enabler for economic and tourism growth and development. FlyNamibia, with this new direct flight to Walvis Bay and its combined regional network and schedule, will unlock efficiencies for Namibia’s business, trade, travel, and tourism sectors”.
The route between Eros Airport Windhoek and Walvis Bay will be serviced three days a week – Monday, Wednesday and Friday with a 14-seater Beechcraft 1900 aircraft.
FlyNamibia, under its previous brand FlyWestair, was the first private airline to be granted scheduled passenger airline status in Namibia and has been operational since June 2019, expanding its network of flights to include domestic routes from Eros Airport in Windhoek to Ondangwa, Rundu, Katima Mulilo, Oranjemund and now Walvis Bay, as well as a regional route from the Hosea Kutako International Airport to Cape Town.
