City of Windhoek extends Acting CEO’s tenure

February 10, 2022

The City of Windhoek has extended Jennifer Comalie’s tenure as Acting Chief Executive Officer by three more months.

Her new acting term begins on the 13th of February, ending on the 13th of May, 2022, after being initially appointed on the 15th of November.

Comalie, who is the City’s Strategic Executive for Finance and Customer Services, took over last year from George Mayumbelo, the City’s Strategic Executive for Human Capital and Corporate Services, who had been acting in the role since November 2020.

Windhoek municipality has been operating without a substantive CEO since the resignation of Robert Kahimise who resigned in 2020 after four years at the helm of the municipality to join Cenored.

Previous efforts by the City to appoint a new CEO failed last year amid reports Roads Authority CEO Conrad Lutombi had emerged as the preferred candidate.

Otjiwarongo Chief Executive Officer, Moses Matyayi, is also reported to have been among the finalists in the CoW interview.
