Prime Minister, Dr. Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila has demanded answers from Namibian Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB) CEO, Nangula Uaandja amid allegations of unfair treatment of former Namibia Investment Centre (NIC) employees by the board.

This comes after the former NIC employees had written to the Office of The President seeking its intervention and audience regarding their various concerns.

“I wish to request you to provide feedback to my Office on the issues raised in the letter from former NIC Employees. I have requested the Cabinet Secretary and the Executive Director: OPM to interact with you in this regard. Please engage with them to facilitate that this Office gets an update on the issues and to find a solution to the concerns raised by the concerned parties,” the PM said in a letter to Uaandja.

Among some the allegations raised by the former NIC employees include being snubbed for managerial positions in the investment board despite possession the prerequisite experience and qualifications, and recruitments of some NIPDB employees being done without an interview process.

“We are enduring systematic discrimination and nepotism from the CEO. This unfair treatment is demoralizing and we feel unwanted, marginalized and grossly overlooked at NIPDB. We are only needed for the time being to transfer knowledge, skills and resources. In the long term, the plan is probably to continue deliberately frustrate us, so that we can exit NIPDB one by one,” the NIC former employees letter read.
