Namibia has won the bid to host the Africa Youth in Tourism Innovation Summit and Challenge for the next three years.

According to the Ministry of Environment, Forestry, and Tourism (MEFT), event is set to take place from May 30th to June 2nd, 2023, in Swakopmund, Erongo Region.

The MEFT will be working in collaboration with the Africa Tourism Partners South Africa and the United Nations World Tourism Organization to host the event.

The summit, which is the only Pan-African Youth and start-up tourism summit on the continent, will provide an exclusive platform for innovative African youth in the travel and tourism industry.

Following a successful fourth edition of the summit held in Windhoek in 2022, Namibia will host the fifth edition of the continental event.

The summit will offer funding, partnership, and mentorship opportunities for young entrepreneurs seeking to present their projects to the global marketplace.

According to the MEFT, the summit is open to all interested youth, start-ups, and professionals in the tourism, travel, hospitality, aviation, academia, and technology sectors, while the event's exhibition is free.

The summit is expected to showcase the country's vibrant tourism industry, which has been identified as a key driver of economic growth and job creation.
