US First Lady Jill Biden to visit Namibia

First Lady of the United States, Jill Biden, is set to embark on a visit to Namibia and Kenya from Wednesday, February 22nd to Sunday, February 26th, with the aim of strengthening the United States' partnerships on the African continent while advancing shared priorities in the region.

The U.S. Embassy in Windhoek announced the upcoming visit on Tuesday.

“Dr. Biden’s engagements will focus on the empowerment of women and youth, efforts to address food insecurity, and promoting our shared democratic values,” said Tiffany Miller, Public Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Windhoek.

The visit comes after Dr. Biden hosted a two-day spousal program at the U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit in late 2022. This will be Dr. Biden's sixth visit to Africa, her first visit to Namibia, and her third visit to Kenya.

The U.S. Embassy in Windhoek emphasized the significance of the trip in advancing shared objectives between the U.S. and African nations.
