Former Ministry of Health PS named Rector of Welwitchia Health Training Centre

Welwitchia Health Training Centre (WHTC) has named Dr. Andreas Mwoombola as its new Rector, succeeding Prof Scholastika Iipinge, a Founding Member of the institution.

Dr. Mwoombola, a former Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health, brings more than two decades of experience in business development and management to his new role.

With a Ph.D. in General Management, MSc in Human Resources Management, and an MBA, Dr. Mwoombola has demonstrated a successful track record of guiding organizations through change and professional development. According to Monika Pendukeni, Chairperson of the Council and Founding Member,"Dr. Mwoombola's appointment comes at a crucial time for WHTC as it aims to bridge the gap in higher education and serve all Namibians by diversifying its programs. His expertise in resource management, human capital development, finance, corporate governance, and strategic planning will drive the institution to new heights."

Before joining WHTC, Dr. Mwoombola spent four years at the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Secretariat, serving as a Senior Officer for Learning, Development, and Organizational Development, as well as a Consultant and Technical Expert in the Corporate Affairs department. He was responsible for a range of functions, including finance, human resources, information technology, procurement, and projects.

"I am thrilled to join Welwitchia Health Training Centre and believe that its unique position in the evolving higher education landscape will be a catalyst for growth and success,”Dr. Mwoombola said.

As Rector, Dr. Mwoombola will oversee the academic, administrative, strategic, and transformational leadership of the institution.
