President Hage Geingob, who is currently in Cape Town for the African Energy Week conference, has been bestowed with the African Energy Chamber (AEC) 2023 Lifetime Achievement Award.
The award serves as recognition for African leaders who have taken significant steps to enhance the socioeconomic development and well-being of Africans by fostering the growth of the energy sector in Africa.
According to the AEC, Namibia, under Geingob’s leadership, has garnered a reputation for good governance, contributing to sustained investments and explorations following the discoveries in 2022.
The Chamber also commends the country’s commitment to using a portion of its natural gas resources to meet domestic needs. This move will enhance Namibia’s energy security, paving the way for economic growth and industrialization.
Furthermore, the Chamber acknowledges Geingob’s dedication to Namibia’s natural gas agenda and highlights the nation’s efforts to develop its renewable energy sector.
In addition to receiving this prestigious award, President Geingob delivered the opening keynote address at the African Energy Week conference, which is the African Energy Chamber’s annual conference, exhibition, and networking event currently taking place in Cape Town.
