Deep-South Resources has hired Namibian drilling contractor, Ferrodrill Namibia, to proceed with the Haib Copper project drilling program.
The contract provides for 5,000 meters of diamond drilling at Haib, located in the south of Namibia.
The specific focus of the drilling campaign is to target the high-grade area of the deposit uncovered by Deep-South in 2019 and the program plans to drill up to 10,000 meters in the area.
“Previous drilling programs indicate the presence of higher copper-grade zones, likely associated with near-vertical structures (shears and faults) within the broader mineralized areas of the project. The use of vertical drilling in the past potentially missed these structures, resulting in an underestimation of the overall grade. Our drilling program is focused on addressing this by using inclined holes to identify and delineate these structures and test their association with higher Cu grade zones,” the mineral exploration and development company said.
The first 5,000 meters were drilled in 2021,however, the program was suspended when the Ministry of Mines and Energy of Namibia refused to renew the exploration and prospecting license, according to the company.
Following a legal process, the Haib license was renewed in July of this year.
Deep-South’s goal is to complete the remaining 5,000 meters of drilling and then proceed with a new resource estimation.
Deep-South is a listed Canadian company that holds the Haib Copper Project in Namibia and has an interest in three exploration licenses in Zambia’s Copperbelt.
