Zebra Kasete, the Vice President and Managing Director of Dundee Precious Metals Tsumeb, has been elected as the new president of the Chamber of Mines of Namibia during the organization’s annual general meeting, held on Wednesday.
Kasete is no stranger to the role, having previously served as Chamber president. He takes over from Hilifa Mbako, the Executive Chairperson of Orano Mining Namibia, who stepped down.
George Botshiwe, the Managing Director of QKR Navachab Gold Mine, has been appointed as the first vice president of the mining body.
Meanwhile, John Roos, the Country Manager of B2Gold Namibia, was elected as the second vice president.
The Chamber of Mines is a member-based organization that actively advocates for policies that affect the Namibian mining sector.
Through its leadership, the organization aims to maintain a regulatory environment that attracts investment and promotes the growth of the country’s mining industry.
